Milo had a sweet scam going.
Aided by the luscious Angie, whose face and curves could fog the brain of any man, it was almost too easy to fool the local rubes as they traveled across the country from one rural gin joint to the next. They always moved on holding a fresh wad of cash and left the suckers slack-jawed and unsuspecting.
But even the sweetest scam can turn sour eventually, and even the slickest con man can get the tables turned on him …

The Raffle eBook Wayne D. Dundee Reviews
Kind of short.
Why did you ask me to write a review of such a very short and mostly uninteresting book?
A hard-hitting rural noir short story with a surprise, grisly ending. Most enjoyable. Reminded me a little of Jim Thompson. For .99 cents, you won't be disappointed!
A couple comes into a small rural bar after having car trouble on a rainy night. The woman is gorgeous, the man is broke, and he comes up with a desperate plan to make some money. But as you might expect, not everything is as it seems.
THE RAFFLE is a tightly plotted, nasty little noir crime story from Wayne D. Dundee, so you know it's going to be compelling and well-written. Dundee throws in several nice twists on the way to a powerful ending. This is a fast, excellent, entertaining read. Highly recommended.
As all good crime writers know, noir is not hard-boiled, hard-boiled is not noir. In The Raffle, Wayne D. Dundee snags noir with piano wire precision and serves it up with dark, tightly woven prose. This is the very definition, folks. The story, about a shiftless grifter and his hotty gal pal, is told through rich character interaction and spot-on dialog. It’s easy to see why this short story was included in 100 CROOKED LITTLE CRIME STORIES, a 1990’s print anthology edited by Rober Weinberg, Stefan R. Dziemianowicz, and Martin H. Greenberg. Hard as nails and darkly compelling.
The cover of Wayne Dundee's new short story is a throwback to those old paperbacks of the '50s. As you'll discover if you read the story, the cover's entirely appropriate.
A young couple, drenched from walking in the rain, shows up at a little out-of-the way country bar. They seem to have money problems, and the guy comes up with an interesting way to get some cash. (The title is a clue.) But in this tight, nasty little tale, nothing is quite what it seems to be.
The story's well written and suspenseful, and Dundee manages to spring more than one surprise in it's short space. Check it out.
GREAT
THE RAFFLE is a nifty little crime tale of a con that takes a few twists along the way to a tough ending. Writer Wayne Dundee delivers as always.
Not sure what story the other reviewer read, but it couldn't be this one.
